3.0 years ago | Elizabeth Sidaway
Eagles Win: 1 - 0
Swinehart played host to two District 15 games this evening, the first ending in a 3-0 Romeo win over Utica and second which ended up a knock-down, drag-out battle between Ford II and Eisenhower in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd.  This was the third time the teams have met, this season.  Eisenhower came out on top in both the regular season matches but would take nothing for granted in District play.  Ford II came out all guns a blazing and had  the Eagles on their heels, in a defensive position for most of the half.  Ford had  a strong wind at their backs, but after 40 minutes of play, the game was scoreless. The second half, was more offensive for Eisenhower, they were able to maintain possession more but were still unable to capitalize on several scoring opportunities. Keepers on both end of the field came up with big saves, to keep the the game deadlocked, 0-0 at the end of regulation, forcing the teams into overtime.  In the first overtime period, the Eagles took charge and as has been the case throughout the season, the teams leading scorer stepped up big-time.  At the 2:32 mark in the first overtime period, Junior Lexi Morrison was able to tap the ball into the net on the first bounce from Senior Bianca Candela's free-kick, putting Ike up 1-0.  Sophomore Goalkeeper Amy Sidaway had a key save late in the game, which sealed the 1-0 victory, sending the Eagles to the Semi-Finals of Districts next week, vs. Stoney Creek.  This is a huge rivalry and traditional District matchup and always proves to be a good matchup.   The game is currently set to be played on Tuesday 6/1 at 5:30pm.  The game will be played at the District host field at  Rochester Adams - - let's PACK THE SEATS with Eagles fans!!!

Ike Finishes Regular Season as Undefeated MAC Red Champs
3.0 years ago | Elizabeth Sidaway
Eagles Win: 4 - 0
The Eagles traveled to Grosse Pointe North on Monday evening, to take on the Norsemen in the Final MAC Red and regular season game and finished by placing an exclamation point, at the end of their 2021 Season.   In the first half, Ike pressured the North Keeper pretty much the entire half, with some great ball movement, possession and speed.  Grosse Pointe's back-line had their hands full with Senior Captain Makayla Belangers constant pressure, forcing turnovers that resulted in not one, but two goals for her in the  half, assisted by Sophomore Grace DeJong and Freshman Ava Dukaj.   Lexi Morrison placed the ball into open space late in the half where Senior Amanda Stout beat her defender and scored, making it 3-0 , heading into halftime. The second half was more evenly matched, and Grosse Pointe tried to capitalize on some scoring opportunities, but could not get the ball passed Sophomore Keeper Amy Sidaway, who had 3 saves on the night.  With less that a minute left in the game, DeJong got her 2nd assist of the night to Morrison, who finished it off, ending the night for Eisenhower with a 4-0 Win.   Sidaway and Senior Alicia Horecki shared time in net for the shut-out. The Eagles end the season undefeated, as MAC Red Champions  9-0-1 in the conference and 13-1-4 overall and head into post season play against Ford II on Wednesday  - game time is 6:30pm at Swinehart.
Ike Soccer WINS on Senior Night!

Eagles Win: 1 - 0
The Eisenhower Girls Varsity Soccer Team celebrated Senior night at Swinehart Field on Friday while hosting the OAA White Champions, the Lake Orion Dragons.  Beautiful weather and a great home crowd atmosphere made the night special for our 12 amazing Seniors.  Captains Maria Riggio, Makayla Belanger, Grace Pabian and Nina Ferraro were joined alongside the other Seniors – Alicia Horecki, Lucia Mancini, Jacqueline Hawkins, Marissa Marlett, Bianca Candela, Marissa Maniaci, Bianca Popovski and Kylie Kade. Ike started an all-senior lineup.  It was a defensive battle, with both teams playing tough through the midfield.  Finally, in the 18th minute, Maria Riggio was fouled on a drive and Ike was awarded a free kick.  Bianca Candela lined up the shot and drilled it perfectly into the back upper corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.  That was all the scoring that would be needed, as the Ike defense held strong.  Amazing saves by goalies Alicia Horecki and Sophomore Amy Sidaway helped seal the 1-0 victory! The MAC Red champion Lady Eagles will travel to Grosse Pointe North next Monday to close out their regular season play.  Kickoff is at 6pm.   District playoffs start on Wednesday, when Ike hosts Utica Ford II at Swinehart Field.
Girls Varsity Soccer defeats Henry Ford II

Eagles Win: 2 - 1
The Girls Varsity Soccer team traveled to Runkel Field to take on Ford II on their home field.  The Falcons came out strong, pushing forward immediately and just over 4 minutes in, scored the first goal of the night, taking an early lead.  It took some time but just before the half, Senior Captains Makayla Belanger and Maria Riggio combined with a Belanger pass to Riggio to tie it up.   The second half, each team had scoring opportunities and it looked like the game would end in a stalemate, but Junior Lexi Morrison found Sophomore Grace DeJong, threading a pass perfectly to her feet and DeJong scored her first career Varsity goal and the game winner, ending the night with a 2-1 Eagles Win.  Senior Alicia Horecki and Sophomore Amy Sidaway shared time in net. Next up is a non-conference matchup with Lake Orion on Friday for a Senior Night Celebration.  Monday 5/24 the team travels to Grosse Point North to finish up conference play and then prepare for their first game of Districts at Swinehart on 5/26 - taking on Ford II.  The Winner of the game will head to District Semi Finals against Rochester Hills Stoney Creek on 5/26 at Rochester Adams High School.

Eagles Win: 1 - 0
The Varsity Soccer team came into Monday nights matchup with something to prove. The Eagles played Anchor Bay to a 0-0 tie on their home field,  earlier in the season and they wanted a WIN Tonight - to make a statement and reclaim the MAC Red Title, lost to the TARS in 2019.  They met the challenge in a big way, with an incredible team effort.  Midway through the first half, Sophomore Aliza Willeke received a ball from Junior Lexi Morrison right in the front corner of the net and drilled it home, for what would be the decisive and winning goal of the night!!  The Eisenhower Defense had a stellar night, with contributions from Senior Captain and Center Back Grace Pabian,  fellow Senior Bianca Popovski, Juniors Natalie Tangelder and Sadie Zyczinski and Senior Bianca Candela held strong at Holding Mid.  Sophomore Keeper Amy Sidaway had one of her best nights of her first full season in net for the Eagles, making two amazing saves in the first half and tallying 10 saves on the night, for the shut-out.  The Eagles take on Ford II, Wednesday at Runkel Field with the early kickoff at 4:30pm.  Friday they're back at Swinehart for a non-conference matchup with Lake Orion and Senior Night.   Come out and celebrate our 12 Seniors and their families!!  It will be a great night!  Kickoff at 6pm.

Eisenhower Girls Soccer win at Dakota

Eagles Win: 3 - 1
The Eisenhower Lady Eagles continued to hold on to their top spot in the MAC Red with a 3-1 Victory over the Dakota Cougars, on the road.  The first half the Eagles seemed to have control of the game.  Sophomore Grace DeJong delivered the assist to Junior Lexi Morrison who opened the scoring for the Eagles. Senior Captains Maria Riggio and Makayla Belanger partnered on the 2nd goal, as Belanger crossed the ball to Riggio who one-touched the ball with her left, hitting the net, heading into halftime with a 2-0 lead.  After the half, things seemed to shift in the Cougars favor a bit, as the Eagles struggled to maintain possession and the opponents were able to chip away at the lead, getting a goal of their own early in the half.  But shortly after Dakota's goal, Belanger drew a foul in the box and Riggio capitalized, earning  her 2nd goal of the night with a clean strike on the PK, taking a 3-1 lead.   The Eagles contained the game from there with Sophomore Keeper Amy Sidaway coming up with 6 saves and earning the win for the Eagles in the net. Eisenhower travels to Warren Cousino on Saturday for a non-conference match kicking off at 11:30am.  Monday's match up vs. Anchor Bay, promises to be a great game at Swinehart.  Game time is at 6pm. Eagles Win: 5 - 0
The Girls Soccer Team hosted the Grosse Point North Norsemen on Wednesday evening.   The first half saw the Eagles in a similar situation to many of their previous games.  Though the Eagles pressured through the half  nothing could break through the solid Goalkeeping.   With less than a minute to play in the half, Senior Captain Maria Riggio finally hit the net, assisted by Junior Lexi Morrison to close the half at a 1-0 advantage. The second half was quite a different story.   The Eagles kept constant pressure on GPN's keeper.   The half resulted in two players getting their first ever Varsity Goals as Sophomore Aliza Willeke scored the first goal of the half and Junior Amanda Stout closed the half with the last goal of the night.   In between the two, Riggio scored her second and Morrison scored one for herself.   Sophomore Grace DeJong, Willeke,  and Junior Lily Arcari, Morrison and Junior Natalie Tangelder were each credited with assists as the Eagles finished off the Norsemen with a 5-0 win.  Eisenhower led GPN with a whopping 31 shots on goal to GPN's 2.  Sophomore Keeper Amy Sidaway earned the shutout.  Please come out on Monday, May 10th for the Eagles Charity Night supporting FRIENDS OF FOSTER KIDS.   Contact any Ike Varsity player for more details.  We're seeking donations in the form of Gift Cards, monetary donations, cash, checks made payable to Friends of Foster Kids or online donations through their secure website:  www. friendsoffosterkids.org.   Come on out and support a great cause with us.  Game time is 6pm vs. Grosse Pointe South at Swinehart.

4.0 years ago | Elizabeth Sidaway
Eagles Win: 3 - 0
The Lady Eagles hosted Ford II in a MAC Red showdown at Swinehart on Monday.  The game did not disappoint as an evenly matched battle entertained a great group of fans through the first half, ending scoreless after 40 minutes of play.   The second half of the game things started leaning a bit in Ikes favor and with about 17 minutes left in the game, Senior Captain Nina Ferraro took a shot from the top of the box on an assist from Junior Lily Arcari, finally breaking the deadlock and putting the Eagles up  by one.  The offense continued to role, finding the combination to breaking through the strong Falcon back-line and a couple of minutes later, Junior Lexi Morrison scored on an assist from Senior Captain Maria Riggio.   Senior Marissa Marlett capped it off with a 3rd goal on an assist from Morrison, ending tha game in a 3-0 victory.    Ike, who is 3-0-1 in the MAC Red Conference and 5-1-4 overall, out-shot Ford 8-2 and earned 3 corners to their 2.  Sophomore Amy Sidaway recorded a shut-out in net, but the biggest play of the night was when Junior right back Natalie Tangelder, came up with an goal-saving stop on what was likely Fords best scoring opportunity of the night and sealed the shut-out. Eisenhower hosts Grosse Point North on Wednesday, in another MAC Red match-up.   Game time is 6pm.
Girls Varsity Soccer Ties vs. Okemos
4.0 years ago | Elizabeth Sidaway
Eagles Lose: 2 - 2
The Girls Varsity team traveled to Okemos on Saturday morning to take on the Chiefs in a non-conference match-up.   The teams played pretty evenly in the first half, both having opportunities to score but being unable to capitalize and resulting in a 0-0 deadlock at halftime. The Eagles started off the second half quite differently.  A couple of minutes in, Senior Captain Maria Riggio scored on an assist from fellow Captain Makayla Belanger.   Moments later, Belanger scored her own and first of the season, on an assist from Junior Lexi Morrison. Okemos answered back rather quickly, making it 2-1 and with time running out, the Chiefs gained an advantage on a foul-call and evened it up at 2-2 as time ran out. The Eagles led the Chiefs in shots on goal 8-5 and earned 4 corner kicks to Okemos' 0.  Senior Alicia Horecki had 3 saves in Goal for the Eagles.    Eisenhower hosts Ford II on Monday at Swinehart field,  in an important MAC Red match-up.  Kickoff is at 6pm.
Eagles & Tars Battle to a Tie in MAC RED Showdown
4.0 years ago | Elizabeth Sidaway
Eagles Lose: 0 - 0
The Eagles traveled to Anchor Bay on Wednesday evening, to take on the Tars who are dead even with Eisenhower at the top of the leader board in MAC Red.   The Tars were aggressive from the get-go, with a strong wind at their backs.  They pressured the Eisenhower defense and keeper for much of the half but the teams were deadlocked at the 40 minute mark.   Eisenhower came out in the second half more offensively minded, and kept the ball primarily in the opponents half, but could not come up with the combination to break the tie, as Anchor Bay's back line held the Eagles to only one shot on goal and gave up only one corner..  . The Eagles back line led by Junior Lily Arcari, Senior Bianca Popovski and Juniors Sadie Zyczynski and Natalie Tangelder also kept their back line in order and Sophomore Keeper Amy Sidaway earned every bit of her clean sheet with 7 saves on the night.  Ike also gave up only one corner.  The Eagles will host Anchor Bay in a rematch on Monday, May 17th - kicking off at 6pm.   Eisenhower heads to Okemos on Saturday morning to take on the.Chiefs at 10am.

4.0 years ago | Elizabeth Sidaway
Eagles Win: 1 - 0
Eisenhower hosted Dakota Monday, in their 2nd MAC Red Conference game of the season.  The Dakota/Ike rivalry, has proven a good one over the years and this game did not disappoint.  Thankfully, the Eagles came out strong offensively and just two minutes into the first half, Sophomore Grace DeJong crossed the ball from the left corner, placing it  perfectly in front of the net  and Junior Lexi Morrison headed it home to put Ike up 1-0.    Eisenhower dominated possession for much of the 1st half, maintaining the lead heading into halftime. The 2nd half, things shifted a bit and Dakota put some pressure on the Eisenhower back-line, but Junior Lily Arcari, stepping into the Centre Back role, led the defense, holding strong and limiting Dakota to a total of 4 shots on goal for the duration of the game.  Ike had 11 shots, to Dakotas 4 and earned 4 Corners to Dakotas 1.  Sophomore Amy Sidaway earned the win in Goal for the Eagles. The teams head to Anchor Bay on Wednesday, to take on the Tars - always a good MAC Red Rivalry Game.   Kickoff is at 6:30.

Eagles Win: 3 - 2
The Blue Devils struck early in the first half, forcing a turnover and scoring to take a 1-0 lead, but just before halftime, Junior Lexi Morrison found Senior Captain Nina Ferraro and she evened things up with her first goal of the season. The 2nd half found the Morrison/Ferraro combo not once, but twice earning Ferraro a hat-trick and taking a 3-1 lead.   GPS countered with one more shot from distance, but could not get the equalizer and the Eagles came out with their first MAC Red Conference of the season. Sophomore Amy Sidaway collected the win, in net. The Eagles are 2-0-1 on the season and host MAC Red rival Dakota on Monday for their first home game of the season.  Varsity kicks off at 6pm.
Ike ends the day 1-1-1 in Stoney Creek Hosted Spring Scrimmage Tourney
4.0 years ago | Elizabeth Sidaway
Eagles Lose: -
The Ike Varsity Girls traveled down the road to Stoney Creek on Saturday morning taking on three different opponents, giving the team an opportunity to acclimate new players and gain some field experience  with one another. The first game vs. Royal Oak was evenly matched.  Both teams had opportunities to score but neither was able to capitalize and the game ended scoreless  Senior Goalkeeper Alicia Horecki had her first start of the season and earned the clean sheet. In game two,  the Eagles were matched up with a tough Stoney Creek opponent, a traditional "cross town rival" that they normally meet up with in Districts.  The game was also pretty evenly matched but late in the 1st half Stoney slipped one  into the net and the Eagles were unable to come up with a goal, ending in a 0-1 loss. The late game featured Eisenhower vs. Davison, who has had a very strong start to their season.  Junior Lexi Morrison continued her hot-streak striking the net in the first half on an assist from Junior Amanda Stout.  Horecki successfully defended the net in the 1st half.   The 2nd half featured pressure from Davison as they pushed to earn an equalizer. Sophomore  Amy Sidaway came up with some key saves  in the net and Freshman Ava Dukaj put the game further out of reach, late in the 2nd when she scored her first Varsity goal, assisted by Morrison, ending the game in a 2-0 win.  Horecki & Sidaway shared the shut-out, capping the day with a great team effort.   The team travels to Grosse Pointe South on Wednesday to take on the Blue Devils with a 7:30pm kickoff time.
Ike Varsity Girls end in a Draw vs. Troy
4.0 years ago | Elizabeth Sidaway
Eagles Lose: 1 - 1
The Varsity Soccer team traveled to Troy this evening to take on the Colts.   Though the Eagles dominated much of the possession in the 1st half and had the wind at their backs, they could not capitalize and midway through the 1st half the Colts managed to push the ball forward and get a cross off, which deflected into the net giving them a 1-0 edge, heading into halftime. About seven minutes into the 2nd half Ike scored the equalizer when Senior Marissa Marlett received a perfect pass from Junior Lily Arcari and pushed it passed Troy's Keeper, to even things up and earn her first Varsity goal. That's how things ended for the night.   Eisenhower edged Troy in shots on goal, 10-5.    The Varsity Team participates in a 3-game Friendlies tournament at Rochester Stoney Creek on Saturday  taking on Royal Oak (9am) , Stoney Creek (10:15am)  and Davison (12:45).  There are no spectator restrictions so come on out and support your Eisenhower Varsity Soccer Girls!

In the 2nd half, the Eagles continued to pressure the Fraser keeper and Morrison earned herself a hat-trick on another assist from Ferraro.   A short time later, Riggio took a hard foul in the box, earning a PK and buried in the net, to make it 4-0.  Sophomore Goalkeeper Amy Sidaway earned her first shutout and win as a Eisenhower player.   Overall the team earned 7 corners to Frasers 3 and had 14 shots to Frasers 2.
