Eisenhower Girls’ Varsity Tennis Defeats #8 Ranked Troy for 2nd Straight Year

Coach Michael Pearson could get used to this. Defeating Troy High in Girls’ Varsity Tennis that is.

On Wednesday afternoon, the 2019 Eisenhower Girls’ Varsity Tennis Team traveled to Troy High and defeated the Colts 5-3. The Eagles swept the singles flight and was put over the top by a 3 set win at 2 doubles.

Scores were as follows:

1S Alexis Anthes (10) 6-2, 6-3

2S Tara Montreuil (9) 6-3, 6-0

3S Wiktoria Szemraj (11) 6-1, 6-0

4S Samantha Souder (12) 6-2, 6-1


1D Clare Henry (12)/Isadora Dimovski (12) 4-6, 6-7(4)

2D Paige Nicholson (11)/Elle Nicholson (10) 0-6, 6-3, 6-2

3D Cece DiCesare (12)/Angelina Vrzovski (11) 0-6, 2-6

4D Gabby Dicesare (11)/Kennedy Kullman (10) 1-6, 1-6


5D Aleksandra Makrievski (12)/Krystal Cvetkovski (11) 6-7(5)

6D Olivia Petrevski (11)/Alivia Miriani (12) 1-8


After a sluggish 1st set, Paige and Elle Nicholson strung together 2 decisive sets to win the match at 2nd doubles.

While 1st doubles duo, Clare Henry and Isadora Dimovski, after losing the 1st set 4-6, came very close to forcing a 3rd set but lost in a tiebreaker for the 2nd set, 4-7.

Eisenhower could face Troy again at the State Finals in Midland at the beginning of June.

Eisenhower is currently tied with Novi at #10 in the Lower Peninsula Division 1 (LPD1) category according to the MHSAA website. The win over #8 Troy will likely affect that ranking positively.

Eisenhower will face #7 Midland Dow, Marian, and regional rival Port Huron Northern in a Varsity Quad on Saturday, April 13th @ IKE and Henry Ford II starting @ 830 AM.
