Posted on 05/15/2025

“MAC RED CHAMPIONS”
EISENHOWER 5- L’ANSE CREUSE NORTH 0

The Eisenhower Eagles had one job to do on Senior Night this year, beat L’Anse Creuse North to win the MAC RED Championship. It didn’t take long to set the tone. The Eagles came out firing and just 6 minutes into the game, nice “give and go” between Junior Captain Ellera Jakubowski and Senior Lily Pantaleo to get Ike on the score board. Jakubowski with a feathery touch to tuck the shot inside the right post to give Ike a 1-0 early lead. Just a few minutes later, off a free kick by Junior Captain Sonja Peterson, Jakubowski gained possession in the middle of the field and let one fly from 28 yards out.   She went top shelf off the cross bar and down over the goal line for a 2-0 lead! IKE continued the pressure. Off a long ball over the top from the IKE back line, Junior Gabby Gojcaj fought through the LCN center back and goal keeper and guided an easy left footed shot into the open net to take a 3-0 lead in the first half!

Our awesome IKE Seniors Devyn Raymond, Lily Pantaleo, Charlotte Long, and Priti Chahil, supported by their parents, were recognized at half time for their accomplishments and future plans. Congrats to our Seniors!

More work to be done in the second half. Junior Captain Julia Aniel with possession and physical play through the midfield finding a streaking Jakubowski up the left sideline who slid a left footed shot inside the right post for her 3rd goal of the contest! #17 with the HAT TRICK for a 4-0 IKE lead early in the 2nd half. Not done yet, Senior Devyn Raymond with a nice move in the center midfield found Jakubowski open on the left side. Jakubowski with a nice move of her own, dropped a dime to Senior Lily Pantaleo for a one timer flick in goal to cap the scoring at 5-0! All of the Eagles shared in this MAC RED deciding game. Freshman Keeper Anna Polisei earned her second individual high school shutout behind a steady defense and midfield. Sam Losh, Maryn Smith and Devyn Raymond all had strong shots that were defended nicely by the LCN keeper. Eisenhower moves to 15-2 for the season and 8-2 in the MAC RED. More work to be done as the playoffs begin next week against the Stoney Creek Cougars. Enjoy the Championship, and focus on the next challenge. Congrats Seniors and families, and GO IKE!  *Special thank you to Ryan Losh for the video and narrative assist for the game.
