Introducing your 2023 MAC RED Girls Soccer CHAMPIONS!!!!!
1 year ago | Mehrdad Nekoogar
Eagles Lose: 0 - 0
The Girls Varsity Soccer team BELIEVES!!!   They BELIEVE  that if they work hard together, give it 110% for the full 90 minutes and have each-others backs, that good things will happen and Monday night, they did not disappoint.   The Eagles traveled to a packed Bulldog Stadium on Monday night, with a LIVE MSN Broadcast in the house to take on Romeo in the MAC RED Championship game, which proved to be a battle to the final buzzer. The game started out with Romeo putting the pressure on, challenging the back line, getting crosses off and making Senior Captain Amy Sidaway work to come up with several stops.  As the Eagles settled in, play became a bit more even with the Eisenhower putting on some pressure of their own, including a laser off the left foot of Junior captain Ava Dukaj which was pushed over the cross bar by the Romeo keeper and a shot on net in the waning minutes of the  half, by Senior Marisa Merski.  It appeared as though the ball was IN,  but at the last second, it hit the post and deflected away from the net.  The teams ended the half deadlocked in a scoreless tie, as Romeo honored their Seniors during a halftime celebration. The 2nd Half continued with a very physical battle, both teams having opportunities but not being able to capitalize and get the ball passed either keeper;  The Goalkeeping was stellar on both sides, with Sidaway securing the net for the Eagles and Romeos Keeper, Eva Hill making some amazing saves of her own.   In the end, your EAGLES were able to earn the MAC RED Title for the 2023 season, edging the Bulldogs out by 2 points, to sit atop the Conference. The Eisenhower back-line, continues to AMAZE and keep things in check with a STELLAR night from Juniors Katie VanDeWinkle and Hadley Farr as well as the Freshmen duo of Abby Beardsley and Sonjia Peterson.   It was a knock-down, drag out battle zone in the midfield, with Senior Captain Grace DeJong stepping up with some KEY defensive plays (as well as some creative offensive moves), Freshman Julia Aniel demonstrating her ability to endure a physical  game and Senior Captain Chloe O'Loughlin literally running the field in both directions, putting pressure on offensively and getting back to support on Defense. Dukaj continued to be a key part of the offense, pressuring Romeos back line, and creating opportunities.  The Eagles Believed and accomplished their collective season goal, securing the MAC RED Championship, with Sidaway being named the MSN Player of the game with a 10 save shut-out. The Eagles kick off game one of District play on Wednesday against a familiar rival, Stoney Creek -- traveling just across the county border, to take on the hosting Cougars.   Kickoff is at 7pm.   Please come out and support your Eagles!!!

Eagles Win: 2 - 0
Senior Captains Chloe O’Loughlin and Amy Sidaway delivered big-time, in Eisenhower’s 2-0 win over Anchor Bay on Monday night at the Tars home field.  O’Loughlin launched a long range ball from the right side,  midway through the first half that appeared as though it was going to go wide left, but dropped into the upper netting, giving Ike a 1-0 advantage.   O’Loughlin notched her 2nd goal of the night, seconds into the second half, on another long distance shot,  fellow Senior Captain Grace DeJong was credited with the assist.  Sidaway came up with several key saves and defensive plays, to earn the clean sheet behind a stellar back-line which included Juniors Katie VanDeWinkle and Hadley Farr, Freshmen Sonjia Peterson and Abby Beardsley.  Freshman Julia Aniel played aggressively in the midfield and Junior Captain Ava Dukaj tore through the Anchor Bay back-line, time and time again - creating havoc for the Tars defense.    Anchor Bay had numerous opportunities and Sidaway wasn’t having any part of it.   Sophomore Charlotte Long also had a breakout night, her constant pressure on the Anchor Bay Defense and GK, created opportunities for her team mates!!!  It was a GREAT WIN and a Great Team Effort!!   The Girls head to Macomb Dakota on Wednesday, for another MAC Red Matchup - Varsity kicking off FIRST at 5:30pm - with JV to follow.

Eagles Win: 3 - 1
Eisenhower maintained sole possession of first place in the MAC Red with a win vs. L'Anse Creuse North.  Ike had countless opportunities in the first half and were unable to capitalize, heading into halftime in a scoreless tie.  Eisenhower came out hot to start the second half breaking the scoreless tie.  Julia Aniel started the play winning the ball in the middle and passing to Chloe O'Loughlin who headed into the corner and crossed the ball to her fellow Captain, Junior Ava Dukaj who scored to put Ike up 1-0.  Senior Captain Grace DeJong added Ike's second goal on a beautiful assist from Dukaj with 8 minutes remaining.  Things got a little sloppy in the final 3 minutes and LCN capitalized, scoring  on a breakaway to make it 2-1.  Less than 30 seconds later Ellera Jakubowski assisted Ava Dukaj for the insurance goal (and her second on the night), ending the scoring and securing a 3-1 win. Captain Amy Sidaway earned the win in net,  First year  defenders Abby Beardsley, Sonja Peterson and Junior Katie VanDeWinkle, secured the back line for the Eagles.  The Eagles enter their final series of games, all important MAC Red matchups  - all away games starting with Mondays matchup at Anchor Bay,  Wednesday at Dakota and then finishing up on the 22nd in Romeo, before heading into the toughest District Tournament in the State.    Mondays match at Anchor Bay starts with JV at 4:30, Varsity kicks off at 6:30, with the Eagles looking to even the score with Anchor Bay after suffering a home field loss, earlier in the season.  Come on out and SUPPORT your EAGLES!!!

Eisenhower tied Grosse Pointe North 1-1 on Senior Night.   The Eagles had plenty of chances throughout the evening and struggled to capitalize through the first half, heading into halftime in a scoreless tie.   In the 2nd half, Junior Captain Ava Dukaj put Eisenhower up 1-0, with 6 minutes remaining on a beautiful cross from Freshman Ellera Jakubowski.  The game looked to be in hand until GPN earned a corner and were able to tie it up with a little over 3 minutes left in the game.  Seniors Amy Sidaway and Viveca Krolczyk were incredible all night in net behind stellar defense from Abby Beardsley, Katie VanDeWinkle and Julia Aniel.     Halftime saw a celebration of the Class of 2023.  The Seniors and their families, who have contributed over the years to the Eagle program were honored as this was their last home game of the season.   Senior Captains Grace DeJong, Chloe O'Loughlin and Amy Sidaway, as well as Viveca Krolczyk, Ellie Daoust, Elena Medina and Gabrielle Matoski all were celebrated with their families in a wonderful halftime ceremony led by Nora VanDeWinkle and her crew of volunteers.  It was a great night with a Reception afterward, enjoyed by the players and their families. Girls Soccer Big Win over Romeo Bulldogs - Securing 1st Place in MAC Red
1 year ago | Mehrdad Nekoogar
Eagles Win: 2 - 1
Romeo entered the game vs. Eisenhower with no "goals against", in their MAC Red competitin.  Eisenhower made fast work, of fixing that.  An aggressive play in the box against Senior Captain Grace DeJong, resulted in a PK awarded to the Eagles.  Freshman Ellera Jakubowski, stepped up and confidently buried the shot in the net, continuing her scoring streak with her 8th goal on the season.  Two minutes later, the teams headed into the half 1-0, with Ike at an advantage.  Two minutes into the 2nd half, the Eagles extended their lead. The play began with a beautiful build up from the back, an outstanding assist from Jakubowski and an even more skillful goal from DeJong putting the Eagles up 2-0.  Romeo was able to capitalize on a "handball" call in the box, making it 2-1 with 2 minutes left to play.  But Ike was able to hold off the Bulldogs to earn the victory, and hold onto their 1st place spot in the MAC Red Conference.  Senior Captain Amy Sidaway, made several key saves to earn the win, in net.  Junior Katie VanDeWinkle made some huge plays down the stretch defensively.  Sophomore Priti Chahil, in her first start of the season played midfield like she's been there all year!!!  It was a GREAT collective team effort and a huge win for the program.   The girls take a much needed break, for the rest of the week.  Up next, we celebrate our SENIORS and their families - Monday night vs. GPN .  Varsity is the ONLY Game of the night - - kicking off at 4:30.   Join us in celebrating our 8 Seniors - - Ellie Daoust,  Viveca Krolczyk, Elena Medina, Marisa Merski, Gabrielle Matoski, Grace DeJong, Chloe O'Loughlin and Amy Sidaway, their contributions and committment to the Eisenhower Eagles Soccer Program, over the years.
Ike Girls Varsity gets a Win on Blustery, Cold Night vs. Dakota
1 year ago | Mehrdad Nekoogar
Eagles Win: 2 - 1
The Ike Girls Varsity Soccer Team was able to maintain their 1st place spot in the MAC Red Division with a win over Dakota on a cold and breezy night at Swinehart Stadium in front of a rather large crowd!!   Dakota jumped to an early lead,  when a player broke free of their defender and was able slip the ball just passed the keeper.  But the scoring was not done for the night and the Freshmen duo of Julia Aniel and Ellera Jakubowski, made sure of it.  Headed into the 20th minute,  Aniel received a perfect corner kick from Senior Captain Chloe O'Loughlin, answering with a beautiful header to even the score 1-1.  Just two minutes later as the offense tried to work the ball forward,  Senior Captain Grace DeJong passed a ball which was deflected to Jakubowski who took a touch to her right side, around a defender and drilled it into the upper netting, putting Ike on top 2-1 and earning her 7th goal of the season.  The 2nd half had the Eagles on their heels a bit, finding it difficult to get the ball out of the backfield with the wind in their faces.  They managed to keep Dakota in check with strong play in the midfield by O'Loughlin, and Senior Elena Medina and the back-line led by Juniors Katie VanDeWinkle and Hadley Farr, and another 1st year Sonjia Peterson.  The offense had some great opportunities and strung together some great pass combos, led by DeJong,  Jakubowski, Senior Marisa Merski and Junior Ava Dukaj,  but the score remained 2-1, with Senior Captain Amy Sidaway getting the win, in net.  Up next the Eagles host the Romeo Bulldogs on Wednesday at Swine, in a rather big MAC Red matchup.   MHSSA will be broadcasting the game LIVE - so come on out and pack that stands!!!  JV kicks off at 4:00 with Varsity to follow at 5:30pm.  Let's go EAGLES!!!

Eagles Lose: 0 - 3
It was a tough night for the girls on the field, but a great night for the Ike community.  Eisenhower hosted their annual charity fundraiser vs. Adams raising funds for the Cassie Hines Shoes Cancer Foundation.  Adams was riding high after a big win against Stoney Creek.  The game was tied 0-0 at halftime, with great defensive play from Katie VanDewinkle, Abby Beardsley and Viveca Krolczyk playing great defensive soccer.  Adams pulled away in the second half and never looked back.  Seniors Ellie Daoust and Gabriella Matoski also had great efforts for the Eagles. Girls Varsity Soccer fall short vs. Anchor Bay
1 year ago | Mehrdad Nekoogar
Eagles Lose: 0 - 1
It was a packed house at Swinehart for the MAC Red showdown, with MHSSA live-broadcasting the game.   Anchor Bay came out strong putting immediate pressure on the back line, pressuring the back line.   There was back and forth possession.  Ike had an opportunity midway through the half to capitalize on an open net, but weren't able to get the shot on net.  The teams were evenly matched until the 18 minute mark, Anchor Bay threaded a pass perfectly to a breaking forward and went up 1-0.  The rest of the half went much the same with the teams ending the half with Anchor Bay up by 1. The 2nd half was much of the same.  A back and forth battle.......missed opportunities on both sides of the field with the end result the same, with Ike suffering a 0-1 loss, their first in the MAC Red. Join us tomorrow at at Swinehart for our Charity night with all proceeds going to the Cassie Hines Shoes Foundation, while Ike hosts Rochester Adams  - 4pm JV Kickoff and 5:30 for the Varsity matchup.

1 year ago | Mehrdad Nekoogar
Eagles Win: 2 - 0
The Varsity Girls picked up their first win of the season in a non conference matchup vs. Warren Regina.    The team is welcoming 11 new players to Varsity, and the first half was a lot of trial/error, acclimating to each other and figuring some things out.   The second half, things definitely started to click, connecting passes, give and gos, combinations were starting to work.   Early in the 2nd half, Regina was called for a foul in the box.   Senior Elena Medina stepped up and buried the ball into the lower right side of the net, putting Ike up 1-0.    Midway through the half, Junior Grayce Clouston earned her first career Varsity goal, putting the Eagles up by two, which would end up being the final score of the match.   Senior Captain Amy Sidaway had a couple key saves in the 1st and a couple in the waning minutes of the game, to earn her first shutout of the season and secure the win.
