Eagles Win: 4 - 3
The Eisenhower Lady Eagles were at Swinehart field , Thursday night matched against the Utica Chieftains in the opening round of the District playoffs. The rain held and we ended up with a perfect night for an intense soccer battle between cross-town rivals. The Eagles came out fast and controlled possession the first 20 minutes.  There were several scoring chances led by Seniors Amanda Stout and Sadie Zyczynski who kept getting attacking from the wings and slipping behind the Chieftain back-line.  Utica increased their attack for the rest of the second half and was able to create several good scoring chances.  Junior Captain Amy Sidaway made some amazing saves, and the defense held strong led by Senior Captain Natalie Tangelder and Sophomore Katie VanDeWinkle.  The girls went into halftime with a 0-0 tie. In the second half, the intensity increased.  Quality scoring chances came from both sides, but the defenses held.  Midway through the second half, Senior Zoya Dimovich had to be taken off due to an injury, which was a tough loss of one of our key defenders.  Sidaway was able to turn away a few more Utica quality scoring chances and the second half ended still knotted at 0-0.  We were headed to overtime. The two overtime periods continued the intensity.  Despite strong offensive pushes from both sides, the defenses held.  Overtime ended with the game still tied 0-0 and after 100 mins of play. The outcome would be decided in a shootout. The crowd was on their feet, loud and electric.  Both teams selected their 5 shooters.  Eisenhower started out with Senior Captains Lexi Morrison and Lily Arcari, followed by Sadie Zyczynski, and then Juniors Elena Medina and Ellie Daoust. Lexi started off the shootout by burying her shot to take a 1-0 lead.  Utica lined up next and Sidaway dove and knocked down their shot.  However, she was called for early movement and was unable to stop the re-kick.  Score was tied 1-1.  Lily lined up next and knocked her shot confidently in to go up 2-1.  On Utica's next shot, they missed wide.  Sadie went next and nailed her shot to go up 3-1.  Utica scored to make it 3-2.  Elena stepped up and made it 4-2.  Utica made it 4-3 on the next shot.  Ellie lined up next for the win, and hit a beautiful shot to the upper right corner of the net, but just barely touched the goal post and bounced away.  The score remained 4-3.  Utica had a chance to tie, but their shot went over the net.  Ike wins and the team erupted in celebration!!   The girls are back in action next Thursday, June 2nd at Romeo High School for the second round of districts against top-seeded Stoney Creek. Kickoff is at 6pm.  Bring your family, bring your friends and bring your energy for what will certainly be another intense rivalry battle!

Ike Celebrates Senior Night with a Comeback Tie vs. GPN
3.0 years ago | Elizabeth Sidaway
Eagles Lose: 1 - 1
The Eisenhower Girls Varsity Soccer team hosted Grosse Pointe North at Swinehart and celebrated the last time the Six Seniors will step on the field in a regular-season game.  The game kicked off with a beautiful, LIVE rendition of the National Anthem, sung by the Senior IKE ensemble - consisting of Conde Gonzalez, Angelina, Kashmikha, Hailey Nichols and Lydia Mervar. Ike maintained possession for the better part of the first half, outshooting GPN significantly, but as the Eagles learned earlier in the season, the GPN Keeper was not allowing anything past her, and just prior to the half the Norseman were able to score one,  heading into the break with a slight advantage. Halftime was spent honoring the teams six Seniors, starting with #2 - Senior Captain Lexi Morrison - 4 year Varsity Player and Valedictorian.  Lexi plans to attend The University of Michigan to study Biomedical.  # Engineering.  Next up #9, Senior Captain Lily Arcari who has played Ike Soccer for 4 seasons and plans to continue playing at Delta College while studying Sports Medicine.  #12 Sadie Zyczynski has played 4 years with the Ike Soccer program, the past two years with the Varsity squad and is graduating Magna Cum Laude and as an AP Scholar, planning to attend MSU to study Biology at the College of Nursing.  #13 Senior Captain Natalie Tangelder has been with the Ike Soccer program for 4 years, the last two with the Varsity squad and will graduate Valedictorian and as an AP Scholar.  She plans to attend Bowling Green University to study Criminal Justice and Forensic Science.   #14 Zoya Dimovich has played soccer with the Ike Program for four years, the last 2 with the Varsity team.  Zoya will graduate as Valedictorian and and AP Scholar and plans to attend Oakland Universities Business School.  #21 Amanda Stout has been a member of the Ike Varsity Soccer program for 3 years and plans to attend Cosmetology school, after graduations.   All of these great players and students were honored along with their parents.  We have appreciated having these families as part of the Ike Soccer program and were able to wish them well in their future plans.  The second half continued much like the first half.  Ike dominated possession and continued to keep the GPN Goalkeeper very busy.   Late in the half, a collision between the GPN keeper and an Ike Forward, resulted in a game stoppage -- giving the teams some time to catch their breath.  That seemed to be just what Eisenhower needed, as with just over 3 minutes left in the game, Junior Marisa Merski was able to strike the ball from the left side (but with her right foot - - she's a lefty), hitting open net and earning the equalizer and that's how the game ended in a 1-1 tie. The Lady Eagles kick off post-season play on Thursday, May 26th at Swinehart - vs. Utica.  Gametime is 7pm.  Come on out and support the Eagles in post-season play.   Just a reminder that for MHSSA hosted post-season games - your UCS/Booster passes will no longer be accepted. Looking forward to seeing a BIG CROWD to support the girls!!
Eagles even score vs. LCN at Swinehart

Eagles Win: 1 - 0
The Eagles hosted the Crusaders in a MAC RED matchup, fighting for the 2nd place spot in the division and wanting to exact revenge for a loss earlier in the season.   The first half was evenly matched, opportunities came up for Ike but they were not able to capitalize or get the ball past the LCN Keeper.  Heading into the half, the teams were in a scoreless deadlock. The 2nd half looked like it was going to be more of the same, until Eisenhower was able to earn a corner about 10 minutes in. Senior Zoya Dimovich stepped up to take the corner and placed the ball perfectly at the front post  where Junior Elena Medina headed it home, putting Ike up 1-0.  That proved to be the game winner, as the Ike back line consisting of Dimovich, Senior Captain Natalie Tangelder, Sophomore Katie Van De Winkle and Senior Sadie Zyczycinski  all denied any offensive attempts with Junior Captain Goalkeeper Amy Sidaway earning the shutout. Eisenhower hosts Grosse Pointe North on Wednesday, May 18th at Swinehart where they will celebrate our graduating Seniors.  Game time is EARLY at 4:30.  Come on out and help us Celebrate a great group of girls.
Girls Varsity brings home a WIN vs. Dakota on FAN "Families Against Narcotics" Charity Night
3.0 years ago | Elizabeth Sidaway
Eagles Win: 1 - 0
The Eisenhower Lady Eagles hosted their MAC Red rival Dakota High on Monday night.  It was also Charity night as the girls helped raise funds and awareness for Families Against Narcotics.  All season, the injury bug has prevented the team from ever being at full strength.  In last night's game, this trend continued with only a few subs available able to play.  Senior Captain Natalie Tangelder was late scratch at center-back, so Senior Zoya Dimovich had to step up even more to help anchor the defense, which she did. It was a battle from the start.  The Eagles controlled possession most of the first half with a lot of play in the midfield.  Dakota was pressing hard to try and make something happen.  The strong play of the defense continued.  Despite some good runs and scoring chances, the girls went into halftime with a 0-0 tie. In the second half, things changed.  Junior Grace DeJong, who has been battling injuries, broke thru on a beautiful run and assist from Senior Captain Lexi Morrison and found the back of the net.  Grace had another chance a few minutes later but hit the top crossbar.  She provided an emotional spark that the girls were able to ride through to a 1-0 victory.  Junior Captain Amy Sidaway kept the sheet clean assisted by a great effort in front of her on defense.   The girls are back in action on Wednesday at home with a rematch against L'Anse Creuse North.  JV kicks off at 4:30pm followed by Varsity at 6pm.  Come out to Swinehart and enjoy the great Spring weather
Eagles vs. Bulldogs results in Scoreless Tie

Eagles Lose: 0 - 0
The Eagles traveled to Romeo on Friday evening to take on the Bulldogs in a 2nd matchup in MAC RED Play.  The Teams are virtually tied in the conference, so both teams were out to take the other down. In a very physical matchup, neither team could put the right combination together to get the ball in the net and late in the 2nd half - the Romeo keeper came up with a huge save, to end the game at a 0-0 deadlock. Strong defensive play by Senior Captain Natalie Tangelder, Sophomore Katie VanDeWinkle, and Seniors Zoya Dimovich & Sadie Zyczynski were key in keeping Romeo from scoring and Junior Captain Amy Sidaway earned the shutout.   Join the Eisenhower Girls Soccer program on Monday, Mary 9th -when they host the Dakota Cougars on their Charity Night - supporting Families Against Narcotics.   We have some fun activities planned including a bake sale, raffles and a fun halftime shootout activity.  Come on out and support a great cause.   JV Kicks off at 4:30 and Varsity at 6pm.

Eagles Lose: 2 - 3
The Girls hosted an early game vs. Anchor Bay on Wednesday afternoon at Swinehart and came out hot - scoring two early goals and taking an early 2-0 lead.  Senior Captain Lily Arcari started off scoring, taking on 2 defenders and blasting it past the keeper and a couple of minutes later, Senior Amanda Stout earned her first goal of the season.  The Tars were able to chip away at the lead slowly but surely and and tied it up, heading into the half - 2 a piece.     The Tars earned a corner, midway through the 2nd half and were able to capitalize on it, earning what would eventually be the game winner.  The Eagles were unable to convert on scoring opportunities, ending the game with a 2-3 Anchor Bay win.    The Eagles travel to Romeo on Friday, to take on the Bulldogs - JV Kicks off at 5:15 and Varsity at 7.

Eagles Win: 1 - 0
The Eisenhower Girls traveled to Grosse Pointe North on Monday to take on the Lady Norsemen.  The girls wasted no time with an offensive onslaught, getting 1v1 opportunities and multiple scoring chances, but Norths Goalkeeper would not relent and time after time came up with saves to keep the game scoreless.  Shortly before halftime, the Eagles would get their break as a GPN defender was called for a handball in the box.   Senior Captain Lexi Morrison stepped up to the PK line and calmly struck the ball into the lower left corner, just out of the Goalkeepers reach,  putting Ike up 1-0. The second half was more of the same, Eisenhower’s offense lead by Morrison,  Senior Amanda Stout and Senior Sadie Zyczynski out-paced GPN time and time again, while the Ike Defense kept things in check led by Senior Captain Holding-Mid Lily Arcari,  Center Back Natalie Tangelder,  Senior Left Back Zoya Dimovich and Sophomore Center Back Katie VanDeWinkle.  Junior Captain Amy Sidaway earned the shut-out in Net. MAC Red action is heating up as the Eagles, Anchor Bay Tars,, Romeo Bulldogs  and L'Anse Creuse North Crusaders are all neck-n-neck for the top spot. The Eagles return home Wednesday to avenge a MAC Red loss from earlier in the season, taking on the Tars – EARLY Kickoff time is 4:30 at Swinehart.  Don’t miss it!!

Eagles Win: 3 - 1
The Eisenhower Lady Eagles hosted Romeo tonight in a MAC Red showdown.  Coming off a couple tough losses with the team shorthanded due to injuries, the girls were looking to make a statement.  Senior Captain Lexi Morrison opened the scoring with a goal off a beautiful run and cross from Senior Amanda Stout.  Ike was able to make it 2-0 game when Junior Elena Medina connected off a Morrison corner kick.  Lexi netted her second goal of the game with an assist from Sophomore Natalie Vernon, and the Eagles went into halftime with a 3-0 lead.  In the second half, Romeo was pressing hard to get on the board.  They were able to score one, but that was it.  Strong play from the midfield and defense led by Senior Captains Lily Arcari and Natalie Tangelder helped bring home the win.  Junior Amy Sidaway earned the Win in net. The girls are back in action next Monday, May 2nd when they visit Grosse Pointe North with the game set to kickoff at 7pm.
Girls Varsity Soccer vs. L'Anse Creuse High School - North
3.0 years ago | Elizabeth Sidaway
Eagles Lose: 1 - 3
The Eagles traveled to L'Anse Creuse North to take on the Crusaders in a MAC Red Conference game.  Down 5 members of their starting lineup, they were able to hang with the host team for the better part of the first half, but a bullet from just outside the box went out of reach of the keeper, hitting the upper netting and giving LCN a  0-1 lead. A few minutes later, LCN earned a corner which resulted in an deflection goal making the score 0-2 heading into halftime. In the early minutes of the 2nd half, LCN had a breakaway, adding another tally to their lead and shortly thereafter another Eagle went down, with an injury.   Coach Nekoogar had to do some unique subbing with limited field players, which resulted in Junior Captain Amy Sidaway swapping her keeper jersey for a field jersey and joining the field players on the pitch and Junior Viveca Krolczyk, took over Keeper duties.  With about 8 minutes left in the game, Sidaway  crossed a ball to Sophomore Hadley Farr who lofted it from the top of the box, high into the air toward the net.  The waiting keeper appeared to play the ball with ease, but stepped too far back inside the net, resulting in the Eagles only goal of the night, Farr's first career Varsity goal and Sidaway's first career Varsity assist.  Krolczyk came up with several key saves in the 2nd half, to keep the game in check.   The 2-3 Eagles (1-2 in MAC) host Romeo who are 5-1-2 (2-0-1 in MAC)  on Wednesday at Swinehart.   JV Kicks off at 4:30 and Varsity follows at 6pm.   Come on out and cheer on the Eagles!!!  They could use your support!!
Ike Girls Soccer Earns 3-0 Shutout vs. Dakota Cougars
3.0 years ago | Elizabeth Sidaway
Eagles Win: 3 - 0
The Eisenhower Girls Soccer teams traveled to Dakota on Wednesday to take on the Cougars in another cold and windy battle.  The teams were initially, evenly matched – each having opportunities to put pressure on the others defense.  Midway through the first half, Eisenhower was able to gain an advantage when Sophomore Katie Van De Winkle tallied her first Varsity goal to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.   Just before the half, Junior Elena Medina would also earn her first Varsity goal, when she was able to gain control of a loose ball just in front of the Dakota keeper, hitting the back of the net and giving Eisenhower a 2-0 lead at halftime.  After the break, the Cougars were able to put some pressure on the Eisenhower back-line, but the Center-back duo of Senior Captain, Natalie Tangelder and Van De Winkle helped Junior Captain Amy Sidaway keep a clean sheet.   Midway through the half, Senior Captain Lily Arcari was able to earn her first goal of the season when she brought the ball through the mid-field striking a worm burner in to the lower left corner, putting Ike up 3-0.   Junior Viveca Krolczyk, relieved Sidaway in the net and was able to make a key save in the waning minutes of the game, helping to secure the 3-0 shut out.  The Eagles travel to Anchor Bay on Thursday to take on the Tars in their first MAC Red game of the season, JV kicking off at 4:30pm and Varsity at 6:30.
Girls Varsity Soccer falls to Lake Orion

Eagles Lose: 2 - 4
Ike traveled to Lake Orion Thursday night to take on the 0-3 Dragons on their home field, in very blustery conditions.    Within the first minutes of the half, Ike lost two starters to injury and shortly thereafter went down 0-1.   Just before the half, Senior Captain Lexi Morrison crossed the ball perfectly from the right side, to the far-post where Senior Sadie Zyczynski was waiting and headed it home, making the score 1-1.  Eisenhower, with the wind advantage in the first half – could not capitalize and headed into halftime deadlocked.   Lake Orion continued their aggressive play in the 2nd half, scoring to make it 1-2, but Sadie Zyczyinski struck again, off of a corner kick from Junior Chloe O’Loughlin to match Lake Orion at 2-2.   But Lake Orion was not going down without a fight and with a slight wind advantage, were able to hit the back of the net two more times before the buzzer, to finish the game 2-4 and earn their first win of the season.  Eisenhower heads to Anchor Bay to kick off a long anticipated MAC RED Rivalry game on Monday 4/18 – JV kicks off at 4:30 and Varsity follows at 6pm.   Come on out and support
Girls Varsity Soccer Shuts Out Stevenson at Swinehart

Eagles Win: 3 - 0
The Ike Varsity girls finally got to kick of their season after having two game postponed, due to uncooperative weather.   They wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Senior Sadie Zyczinski scored within the early moments of play, kicking off the first scoring of the 2022 season.   The Stevenson Keeper came up with a huge stop on a PK  later in the half, but just before the break,  Senior Captain Lexi Morrison added a 2nd goal and headed into halftime with a 2-0 lead. In the second, play was primarily in the Stevenson half of the field, with Eisenhower putting constant pressure on the Stevenson Goalkeeper, who came up with some amazing saves.  It looked like the game was going to end 2-0, but with less than minute to play, Junior Chloe O’Loughlin placed a perfect ball at the feet of Morrison, who beat the back line to the ball, taking the Keeper on 1v1 for her 2nd goal of the night and an “icing on the cake” goal to make it a 3-0 victory.  Junior Captain Amy Sidaway earned her first shutout of the season in net. The Eagles head into spring break next week, but will resume play when they travel to take on the Lake Orion Dragons on April 14th.
