Eagles Lose: 1 - 2
District Finals 2019...
In a rematch of last years District Championship game, IKE girls took on Rochester Adams, at Oxford High School. The Eagles were hoping for a different outcome than last year, and have fought hard all season to get where they are. Ironically, it was a near repeat of last year. After a scoreless first half, Adams got on the board first this time, with about 36 minutes left in the game. Ten minutes later, Junior captain Megan Sidaway drove one into the upper left corner from about 30 yards. Both teams had opportunities they couldn't capitalize on throughout the remainder of the game. But, solid defense and goal tending at both ends kept both teams from netting that winning regulation time goal.
Two ten minute Overtime periods of intense soccer and solid defense, led to no more scoring and so the game would be decided on Penalty Kicks. Megan Sidaway drilled the first of all attempts, and Maddy Marks, who had a great game, dove and blocked Adams' first attempt. With IKE up 1-0 in PKs after the first round, Adams managed to even things out so it was still even, 3-3, after the initial 5 PKs. On this day, it was Adams' 6th attempt that would give them the edge over the Eagles, to win the District in nearly the same fashion they did a year ago.
The Lady Eagles have had a great season, and beat some amazing teams. With a young group of girls this year, the team has a promising outlook for the future. For the seniors who have given so much of themselves, and helped the younger girls become stronger players and great teammates, good luck in everything you do both on and off the field.... and when you're in town next year, be sure to stop in and cheer the team on.
Everyone have a safe and happy summer!!!

Eagles Win: 3 - 0
Stoney Creek came into tonight's District Semi-final game highly ranked and with a near perfect record on the season. Eisenhower's Varsity Girls had a chip on their shoulder and wanted to prove a point. They did just that with a 3-0 shock to the Cougars from Oakland County. The teams played to a 0-0 first half tie. Senior Captain Lauren DeBeau started the second half action by drilling a 20 yard fireball through the hands of the Cougar Keeper with 34 minutes remaining in the game. Just over ten minutes later, DeBeau bent a corner kick into the net just before the back post. With almost twenty one minutes left in the game, a through ball from sophomore Makayla Belanger allowed Senior Taylor Stanley to drill one into the back of the net for the Eagles final tally! Madison Marks provided great play at Keeper as she earned the shutout. The whole team played solid tonight, as they advance to the District Finals against the Highlanders of Rochester Adams, in a rematch of last year's District Final. The two teams battle at Oxford High Schools field at 7:00p.m. on Thursday. We hope to see you there!
