Playing in front of a packed house on the eve of Thanksgiving, the Eisenhower Eagles Varsity Hockey team treated the crowd to a 4-2 victory over the De La Salle Pilots.

The Eagles wasted no time scoring when on their first shift of the game, Jack Hammond slammed home a rebound off of a shot from Jason Geiger.  Even though Eisenhower would get many more opportunities in the first period, the score ended 1-0 heading into intermission.

The Pilots scored early in the 2nd period to tie up the score 1-1, but on the very next faceoff the Eagles scored to take back the momentum when Jason Geiger chipped the pucked into the Pilots zone and Jack Hammond was there to pick up a loose puck turned over by a Pilot's defenseman to bury it in the back of the net for a 2-1 lead.  The Eagles finished off the 2nd period with a late power play goal as Michael Mackey fired home a rebound off of a shot from Brendan Marshall for a 3-1 lead heading into the 3rd period.

The Eagles extended their lead 4-1 with ten minutes to play in the 3rd period on another power play goal.  Matthew Pelligrino won the faceoff back to Jack Hammond whose shot from the point found the back of the net through traffic in front of the goalie.  This goal gave Hammond a hat trick on the night.  The Pilots scored with six minutes to go in the 3rd period to trim the lead back to 2 goals, but the Eagles were able to defend their net in the final minutes of the game to hang on for the 4-2 victory.

The Eagles will next take on L'Anse Creuse in a MAC Red showdown on Friday, Nov 29th at 8:30pm at Suburban Ice Macomb.
