The Freshman Girls Basketball team appeared to have met their match Thursday night on their home court when the Blue Devils came to town.  Turnovers and foul trouble plagued the girls as they headed into halftime down 23-26.   Things stayed pretty even in the 3rd. Ike still struggled from the field scoring only 8 pts in the quarter but managed to keep within striking distance trailing 31-34 at the end of three. It went down to the wire in the fourth.  Things started shifting Eisenhowers way when a key scoring and rebounding threat for the Devils left the game with 5 fouls.  Ikes Maggie McGuire sparked the offense with five of her season high 11 points in the fourth and key free throws hit by Abbie Brecht, who scored four of her 9 points in the fourth.  With 13 seconds left in the game, down by one point , the Eagles struck the final blow.  Molly Yeske with a critical defensive play, came up with the ball and passed it to Amy Sidaway who took it the length of the court for a layup putting the Eagles on top by one point with 5 seconds left in the game.  The Eagles managed to maintain possession until the buzzer coming out with the EXCITING 45-44 win.  A heart-stopper for sure!!   Sidaway led the scorers with 13 followed by McGuires' 11 and Brechts 9.  Kenzie Brinkmann contributed 6 points, Ameiah Wallace scored 4, Giulia Vitale scored 2 and Molly Yeske added 1 point.  

The girls travel to Chippewa on Tuesday, February 11th  - tipping off at 4pm. Come and check 'em out!
