IKE Takes MAC Red Top Honors with Win Over LCN!
Girls Varsity Soccer“MAC RED CHAMPIONS”EISENHOWER 5- L’ANSE CREUSE NORTH 0The Eisenhower Eagles had one job to do on Senior Night this year, beat L’Anse Creuse North to win the MAC RED Championship. It didn’t take long to set the tone. The Eagles came out firing and just 6 minutes into the game, nice “give and go” between Junior Captain Ellera Jakubowski and Senior Lily Pantaleo to get Ike on the score board. Jakubowski with a feathery touch to tuck the shot inside the right post to give Ike a 1-0 early lead. Just a few minutes later, off a free kick by Junior Captain Sonja Peterson, Jakubowski gained possession in the middle of the field and let one fly from 28 yards out. She went top shelf off the cross bar and down over the goal line for a 2-0 lead! IKE continued the pressure. Off a long ball over the top from the IKE back line, Junior Gabby Gojcaj fought through the LCN center back and goal keeper and guided an easy left footed shot into the open net to take a 3-0 lead in the first half!

Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 5- DAKOTA 2The Eisenhower Eagles Varsity Girls started their week off in winning fashion by posting a 5-2 victory over the Dakota Cougars. The Eagles started off slow, allowing the Dakota Cougars a two nothing advantage before they got going. A corner kick taken by Captain Junior Sonja Peterson delivered in to Ellera Jakubowski, passed to Senior Devyn Raymond who nailed it in to get the Eagles on the board 1-2. Shortly thereafter Senior Lily Pantaleo with a great hustle play to work the ball down to Junior Gabby Gojcaj who delivered a perfect ball to Jakubowski who pounded it in the net to tie the game at 2-2. Raymond would go on to score the next goal assisted by Pantaleo. Soon thereafter, a free kick taken by Raymond was stopped by the Cougar goal keeper and Pantaleo was in position to knock it in for the fourth goal for the Eagles. Eagles Win Again as the Season Winds Down
Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 2 - TROY 1The Eisenhower Eagles got back to the winning ways with the comeback victory over the Troy Colts on Thursday night. Troy was able to take the lead and take a 1-0 game into the half. IKE and Troy played a back-and-forth game. Keepers, Anna Polisei and Molly Mellott, played steadily in net against the Colts. Juniors Ellera Jakubowski, Sonja Peterson, Abby Beardsley, and Julia Aniel each worked hard for the Eagles the entire game, displaying their captain leadership. With about 15 minutes left in the game and a few fresh substitutions, Eisenhower found new life with a goal by Gabby Riggio to tie the game at 1-1. Gabby Gojcaj delivered the timely pass to Riggio to earn the assist. With about five minutes left in the game, tied at 1 goal apiece, Sonja Peterson delivered a corner kick that was headed in directly towards the net by Julia Aniel. Aniel’s header was turned away by the Troy defender but knocked in the goal by Gabby Riggio for her second goal of the game. IKE

IKE Falls to Romeo at Home
Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 0 - ROMEO 1The Eisenhower Eagles girls varsity soccer team lost to their MAC rival Romeo Bulldogs Wednesday night 1-0. The IKE team never got firing on all cylinders. Romeo seemed to carry the pace and denied Eagles opportunities for much of the game. Despite opportunities, IKE did not capitalize or put the ball on frame. The Eagles will continue their successful season as they move forward to play Troy HS tomorrow night and then finish off the MAC Red schedule next week. Eisenhower is a talented team. As the season closes and the playoffs begin, they will be a force to reckon with on the field.JV played to a knock down drag out 1-1 tie. Good work girls. Eagles Shut Out Falcons
Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 2 - HENRY FORD II 0The Eisenhower Eagles Varsity Girls started their week off with a dominant 2-0 victory over the Henry Ford II Falcons. The scoring was low due to the heavy defensive presence by the Falcons. Freshman keeper Anna Polisei earned her first individual high school complete game shutout. Polisei benefited from a steady defense and midfield lead by captains Julia Aniel, Abby Beardsley, Sonja Peterson, along with Nicole Von Zittwitz. Junior Gabby Gojcaj got the scoring started for the Eagles this evening with a nice drive through defenders and made a strong shot for the unassisted goal. IKE took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Early in the second half, senior Lily Pantaleo worked the ball into the corner and delivered a perfect ball to the left foot of the crossing captain Ellera Jakubowski. Eisenhower Girls Win Again!
Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 2 - REGINA 0In a physical game between the Eisenhower Eagles and the Regina Saddlelites, the Eagles controlled the tempo and defeated Regina 2-0. After a back and forth start, with 14 minutes left in the first half, Junior Gabby Riggio delivered a nice touch corner kick to Gabby Gojcaj who headed it into the net for the 1-0 lead. Midway through the second half, following a stopped shot by the Regina keeper, Captain Junior Ellera Jakubowski gathered the rebound and found the back of the net to give IKE the 2-0 lead. The score would end 2-0 in favor of IKE. Captain Junior Sonja Peterson and Sophomore Sam Losh also had strong performances for the Eagles deserving of recognition. Keepers Anna Polisei and Molly Mellott, earned the combined shutout for IKE, that is the eight shut out of the season. All of the Eagles contributed to the victory this evening. Eagles Defeat The Tars, Again
Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 5 - ANCHOR BAY 0The Eisenhower Eagles controlled the pace of play as they rolled on to a 5-0 victory over MAC RED opponent Anchor Bay Tars. For the 7th time this season keepers, Anna Polisei and Molly Mellott, earned the combined shutout for IKE. Lily Pantaleo started the scoring for IKE after receiving a nice pass from Devon Raymond, to give IKE the 1-0 lead. Scoring next for the Eagles was Gabby Gojcaj assisted by Pantaleo, 2-0 IKE. Sophomore Forward Maryn Smith got into the scoring mix, taking a well passed ball from Gabby Riggio and found the net to make it 3-0 IKE. The defense and midfield set the tone and limited opportunities for the Tars. After an Anchor Bay foul in the box, the PK kick was taken by Senior Devyn Raymond - she nailed it to make it 4-0 at the half. Late in the contest, Gabby Gojcaj received a pass from Maryn Smith and fired from far out to score IKEs 5th goal of the evening. Final score 5-0. IKE Shuts Out the Crusaders
Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 4 - L’ANSE CEUSE NORTH 0The Eisenhower Eagles continued to work together as a team and earned the 4-0 victory over MAC RED opponent L’anse Creuse North on Monday night. Once again, keepers, Anna Polisei and Molly Mellott, earned the combined shutout for IKE. Lily Pantaleo started the scoring for IKE after receiving a nice pass and assist from Devon Raymond, to give IKE the 1-0 lead. The defense and midfield controlled the play for the majority of the game. Julia Aniel kept the Crusaders alert at all times by creating a physical presence in the middle. On a give-and-go pass from Gabby Riggio to Lily Pantaleo right back to Riggio, Riggio struck the net to make it 2-0 at the half. In the second half of the game IKE continued the scoring, Devyn Raymond found the net after a nice pass from Gabby Gajcaj to make it 3-0. Eagles Bounce Back with BIG Win Over Dakota
Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 4 - DAKOTA 0The Eisenhower Eagles got back to their winning ways Wednesday evening with a 4-0 victory over MAC RED rival Macomb Dakota. Anna Polisei and Molly Mellott earned the combined shutout for IKE. Gabby Gojcaj scored the first goal assisted by Julia Aniel. Shortly thereafter Gojcaj tallied her second goal, of the game, assisted by Ellera Jakubowski. In the second half, Jakubowski sent a crossing pass to Devyn Raymond who knocked it in to make it 3-0 IKE. The final goal was sent in net by Ellera Jakubowski, assisted by Gabby Riggio. The Eagle defense was stingy allowing minimal pressure on the IKE Goal Keepers throughout the evening. IKE moves to 8-1 on the season, 4-1 in the MAC RED.The Junior Varsity played to a 1-0 shut out victory for Eisenhower over Dakota Wednesday night, great game girls.Eisenhower plays their next game away on Monday April 28th against L’anse Creuse North at LCN. Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 1 - ROMEO 2In a MAC RED showdown Romeo and Eisenhower played to 0-0 at half. In the second half, IKE struck first off of a free kick, Devyn Raymond hit the back of the net to put IKE up 1-0. The Bulldogs fought back and scored the equalizer. Romeo wasn’t done yet and scored again, taking the lead 2-1 and held on to the victory. IKE had many opportunities throughout the game, but fell short connecting on the scoring opportunities. JV played a nice game Monday night, fighting back from a 1-2 deficit and tied Romeo 2-2.IKE looks to bounce back when they play Wednesday night against Dakota at Dakota. Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 2 - STONEY CREEK 0Eisenhower defeated the Stoney Creek Cougars 2-0 Thursday night in a non conference match up. IKE controlled the majority of the game. Eagles defense was lead by the 3 "players of the game", Sonja Peterson, Nicole VonZitwitz, and Gianna Paladino.The scoring came in the first half. Gabby Gojcaj scored both IKE goals, one unassisted after pressure and a take away by Gojcaj and one following a nice pass from Devyn Raymond. Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 2 – HENRY FORD 0On “Charity Night” where many families and and fans generously provided donations to the “Fueling Kids’ Futures” for the Utica Community School District, the Eisenhower Eagles Girls Soccer Team was victorious against Henry Ford II. Eisenhower was able to control the ball most of the evening and continued their winning ways. Playing against a heavily weighted defense put up by the Henry Ford Falcons, IKE was able to tally the first goal and set the tone. Midway through the first half, Captain Ellera Jakubowski received a timely pass from Gabby Gojcaj and Jakubowski was able to slide it past the Ford goal keeper to make it 1-0. A few minutes later, Captain Julia Aniel tallied the second goal with an impressive left-footed rocket from 25 yards out to give IKE the 2-0 lead. Gabby Riggio provided the assist on Aniel’s goal. IKE WINS MAC Red Season Opener Over Anchor Bay Tars!
Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 6 - ANCHOR BAY 1The Eisenhower Eagles Girls Soccer team played their first game in the MAC Red conference Monday evening. The Eagles were pretty much in control the entire game. Gabby Gojcaj was the recipient of a pass from Devyn Raymond early in the first half and she started the Eagles scoring 1-0. The Tars fired back to even the game at 1-1. Shortly thereafter, Gojcaj scored again to give the lead back to IKE. Sonja Peterson took a corner kick for the Eagles and the well placed kick was headed in by Gojcaj to make it 3-1. Ellera Jakubowski got into the scoring action after receiving a pass from Devyn Raymond, Jakubowski slid the ball past the goalie on the short side to make it 4-1 Eagles. Just before the half, Julia Aniel showing great desire and hustle, took the ball from an Anchor Bay midfielder, stayed with it and delivered a perfect pass downfield to Jakubowski for her second goal of the game. Girls Varsity SoccerEISENHOWER 2 - ROCHESTER ADAMS 0The Eisenhower Eagles took on the 2024 Division 1 State Champions Friday night at Adams High School. The Eagles and the Highlanders exchanged opportunities and played to a 0-0 halftime. The second half went in the IKE Eagle’s favor. Following a penalty just outside the 18 yard line, Senior Devyn Raymond stepped up and hit a low line drive to the left side of the net to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead. Shortly thereafter Raymond intercepted a kick from the Adams keeper and knocked it in the net to give IKE the 2-0 lead. Keeper Molly Mellott was strong in net the entire game, with multiple saves. All of the IKE defenders, led by Nicole Von Zittwitz and Sonja Peterson, stayed strong. The middle was patrolled all evening by Julia Aniel, getting some defensive help from Ellera Jakubowski and Lily Pantaleo. IKE was able to keep the shutout and take the 2-0 victory. EAGLES Fly High with a Decisive Victory over Chieftains
Girls Varsity SoccerEisenhower 7 - Utica 1The Eisenhower Eagles won their 3rd game of the season Wednesday evening defeating the Utica Chieftains 7-1 at Swinehart Field. All of the Eagles contributed to the victory and provided plenty of offense. Junior Gabby Riggio led the Eagles scoring three goals, Junior Gabby Gojcaj tallied two goals and two assists, Captain Junior Ellera Jakubowski knocked in one goal and provided two assists, while Sophomore Maryn Smith finished the scoring with one goal of her own. The defense and midfield of the Eagles were led by Junior Captains Julia Aniel, Sonja Peterson, Abby Beardsley and Junior Nicole Von Zittwitz. They were able to keep scoring opportunities low for the Chieftains.The IKE Junior Varsity girls won again, defeating Utica 4-0 and move to 2-0 on the season.The Eagles will travel to Rochester Adams to play on Friday evening. IKE Baseball takes down The U in an early season classic.
Boys Varsity BaseballIn a great early season battle, the Eisenhower Eagles had just enough to hold off the hard charging Utica Chieftains. Down 4-1 with 2 outs and nobody on base, in the bottom of the 7th, Utica put 4 hits together to tie the game at 4. In the only extra inning, Marco Fodale blasted a 2-run, 2 out double to give IKE the 6-4 victory. Gavin Rutkowski was great again for Eisenhower on the mound, allowing no earned runs and striking out 7 in 4 innings. Donny Erfourth picked up the win and Kyle Irwin got his 2nd save of the young season. Offensively, IKE was led by 2 hits each from Fodale, Erfourth, and Landen Dupuis. All but 1 Eagle in the starting lineup had at least 1 hit. IKE stands at 3-2 through 5 games.

Boys Junior Varsity BaseballThe IKE JV guys took their first loss of the season on Wednesday, falling 4-3 to the Utica Chieftains. Brian Sowinski and Jacob Holmes had 2 hits each and Ian Gregorich and Andrew Ewald combined to strike out 13 Chieftains.

IKE JV-B falls in a tough contest with Dakota
Boys Freshman BaseballIKE's JV-B fell to 2-2 on the season after a 5-4 defeat at Dakota. Owen Gawel and Luke O'Neil struck out 10 Cougars in the game and Gawel and Landon Simunic's hits paced the Eisenhower attack. Bryson Landry, Andrew Haddad, Jonah Parsons, and Colin Roll all scored runs.
